How to Download Twitter GIFs on iPhone & iPad
Downloading Twitter animations on an Apple iPhone used to require complex Shortcuts or sketchy third-party apps. With modern mobile Safari, you can save GIFs directly to your iPhone Photos camera roll in less than 30 seconds.
Detailed iPhone Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Copy the Link in the X / Twitter App
Open the official X or Twitter app on your iPhone. Locate the post containing the GIF you want to save. Tap the Share button (the icon with an arrow pointing upwards) in the bottom-right corner of the tweet, then tap Copy Link.
Step 2: Open Safari and Visit Twitter GIF Downloader
Open Safari (or your preferred iOS browser like Chrome or Brave) and go to xgifdownloader.net. Tap the Paste button inside the input field, then tap Download GIF.
Step 3: Tap Download MP4
Review the animation in the preview player. Tap Download MP4. Safari will display a system prompt asking: “Do you want to download twitter-gif-xxxx.mp4?” Tap Download.
Step 4: Save to Photos (Camera Roll)
In Safari's address bar, tap the Downloads icon (a circle with a down arrow). Tap the downloaded video file to open it, then tap the iOS Share icon in the bottom-left corner and select Save Video. The animation is now stored in your Apple Photos app!
Why you don't need an iOS App
Many App Store apps that claim to download Twitter GIFs charge expensive weekly subscriptions, show full-screen ads, and harvest your personal usage data. Twitter GIF Downloader runs entirely in standard Safari with zero tracking, zero accounts, and zero payments.
